🏆Nobel Prize in Physics 2021 goes to Syukuro Manabe & Klaus Hasselmann for their improvement of our understanding of climate change, and to Giorgio Parisi for his enormous contributions to understanding random phenomena.
We all hear about climate change on a daily basis. It’s likely that the majority of people don’t fully understand what that means beyond global warming. But comprehending why our global temperature is increasing and how we can predict the future of our climate are massively complex systems. Each of the contributions of these scientists may sound small in scope but in fact they are a lifetime of work that has led us to better understanding how both natural phenomena and human activities impact our planet. The work of Giorgio Parisi, understanding how to define hidden patterns in seemingly random situations, will impact nearly every field of science and math – including climate change modeling.
Together, the work of these newly named Nobel Laureates, has guided and will continue to guide our understanding of climate change.
