The risk of COVID-19 that is prevented by the vaccine is much greater than the risk of serious adverse-events that is acquired by the vaccine.
Here is the summary adult risk analysis from the latest ACIP meeting on July 22nd. The numbers of prevented COVID-19 related hospitalization, ICU admission, and death significantly outweighs the numbers of adverse-events.
Of course all serious adverse events should be taken seriously. But it important to constantly recognize the inherent risk of remaining non-immunized in a time when transmission rates are increasing and variants are circulating.
When calculating risk for any one particular person it is important to look at rates adjusted for age and gender. Overall rates (for adults) are still very low for all adverse-events.
