Got symptoms? Stay home!
Can we normalize staying home if we have symptoms of an infectious disease? For work, for school, for church, for parties, for trips to the store, etc..
With all the talk of testing and the recent updates to the CDC isolation and quarantine guidelines, I think it is important to highlight the importance of two things.
1️⃣ Even when you have fulfilled your local suggested isolation/quarantine guidelines OR when you have tested negative by antigen or pcr, if you are actively experiencing symptoms of being infected with something, do what you can to stay home.
2️⃣It’s important to remember that spreading the flu (influenza viruses) or a common cold (rhinoviruses, adenoviruses, RSV, other coronaviruses, etc.) is also a public health concern. While these viruses have taken a back seat in our minds during this pandemic, they too can fill up hospital beds, add to sick leave at work, and impact a child’s education.
*Note to employers/teachers: actually give your employees/students un-guilted, un-punished, sick time. They can only take it if you give it.
