Knee Joint Art

The knee joint, filled with synovial fluid, is a modified hinge joint. This means it allows a small degree of rotation on top of both flexion and extension.

There are two articulating surfaces in the knee joint (meaning points of contact between bone surfaces). The first is the tibiofemoral – tibia (bone of the lower leg) meets the femur (bone of the upper leg). The second is the patellofemoral – edge of femur meets patella (knee cap).

As you well know, our knees are fundamental for many forms of physical activity. As I was mocking up this post with a new creative style (inspiration detailed below), I thought of how I owe so much exploration of nature to my knees.

Artistic inspiration credit goes to @thenervetolearn! Her work is beautiful. She recently outlined in an igtv how she puts together work like this and I immediately wanted to give it a try. Go follow her work!!!

P.S. I absolutely couldn’t choose a color background. So I’m posting my top! Which do you like best? Comment below!
