Changing Minds

“Watch for people who don’t change their minds more than you watch for people who do.”

I said this in a story a few days ago when addressing recent current events and it resonated with so many of you! Scientists are trained to take in information, process that information, and make reasonable and unbiased claims. Even if we want our work to tell a certain story, if it doesn’t, we don’t tell it! We are here to discover truths about our world and present them as we learn them.

I try to apply this way of thinking to all aspects of my life. Constantly seeking truth means being willing to be wrong, being willing to change your views, and being willing to accept different ideas. It can be uncomfortable at first, but it’s so freeing when you allow yourself to not become stuck in any one way of thinking.

Change is part of our human experiment. I think a red flag (or two) should go up if you find people with a track record of not changing their mind.
